Once October hits it seems like the holiday season rushes in like a freight train, for me that is. I love to make as many of my gifts as possible because I want to show people how much they mean to me. Calendars are the first gift I start on.
Calendars can be created in so many sizes now and you can make them personal and unique for each and every one. I’ve started making calendars about 10 years ago and October seems to be the month to make them for me. I still have time to search for the photos without the full holiday season being upon me. You have many size options from desk to poster size and your themes are endless. You might be saying I can’t think of any themes for my calendar??? Remember only 12 photos are absolutely necessary for any complete calendar. You can always add more but if you can find 12 photos you’d like to share with someone, you have a calendar!!
I’ve made them for family members right after we moved to the ranch showing each month a different photo of what had happened throughout the year. Or how about a trip you and someone special went on together? I did that for one of my sisters and it was a great way to relive the good times we had all throughout the year.
Do you have photos of your pets or family members pets? That can be a calendar theme. My examples are from a desk calendar I made my ranchman and he just loves getting these each year and shows them to EVERYONE that comes in his office. 🙂
Here are sample pages I did showing just one photo each month. Add an inspirational saying, quote or bible verse to each month. You can see the bottom portion of these calendars is designed to match the top page but you can leave those white or whatever color you choose. Simple.
These next two months samples are more decorative than the one photo per page. I started each calendar month as a normal 12×12 page and when I completed 12 pages I then inserted them into the calendar template. Again super easy and FUN to make! I’ve also made calendars with the photo on the bottom section which is smaller and then the calendar on the top portion. This is great for people that have a busy schedule or if their eyesight is bad because the individual day squares are larger.
Next are examples of poster calendars I’ve made. One is portrait size and the other is landscape. I made the landscape one for a kitchen wall I have. These are great for people that love a large photo but can still see what the date is. Hence my kitchen.
I can see the wheels turning in your head right now, right! More ideas – children’s first year of school or even preschool to give to grandparents, or even to your children to hang in their room. Take the time now to gather your photos and create ONE calendar as a gift or for yourself. You’ll have fun doing it I promise. I make all my calendars with Artisan and have them printed at Forever.com if you need a source.
Happy crafting til’ next time, ♥
